In Turkey, a tip of 5-10% is generally left at restaurants. At luxury restaurants, 10-15% is common. If a service charge is included in the bill, additional tipping is not mandatory. Tipping is not expected at cafes and fast-food places but is appreciated.

In the US, a 15-20% tip is almost mandatory because server salaries are low. In Europe, 5-10% is sufficient. In Japan, tipping is considered an insult. Each country has its own culture; research before traveling is recommended.
