Stamp duty is a tax levied on documents and papers of an official nature. Documents such as contracts, payrolls, balance sheets, and lease agreements are subject to stamp duty.

Contracts are taxed at 9.48 per thousand, payrolls at 7.59 per thousand, lease agreements at 1.89 per thousand, and balance sheets at 4.55 per thousand. Rates vary by document type.

In stamp duty, the signatories of the document are the taxpayers as a rule. In contracts, both parties are jointly liable, but in practice, it is usually agreed that one party pays.
