How is overtime pay calculated?
Overtime pay is calculated at 1.5 times (50% premium) the normal hourly wage. The standard working hours are 45 hours per week, and work exceeding this is considered overtime.
What is the maximum overtime allowed per year?
According to the Labor Law, a maximum of 270 hours of overtime per year is allowed. Written consent from the employee is required.
Can time off be taken instead of overtime pay?
Yes, if the employee wishes, they can take 1.5 hours of free time (leave) for each overtime hour instead of overtime pay. This leave must be used within 6 months.
