What are the costs of filing a lawsuit?

Filing costs consist of the application fee, advance fee (1/4 of the proportional fee), expense advance (service, expert witness, etc.), and attorney fees if applicable. Additional costs such as inspection, witness, and expert fees may also arise.

What is an expense advance?

An expense advance is the prepayment that the plaintiff must deposit with the court for expenses such as service of process, expert witnesses, witnesses, and inspections during the trial. The unused portion is refunded at the end of the case.

Can I recover costs if I win the case?

Yes, the winning party can claim litigation costs from the opposing party. The court orders the opposing party to bear the judgment fee and litigation costs. Additionally, an opposing attorney fee is also paid to the winning party's attorney.
